The Monthly Schedule

About Us
Hello, I'm Chel (@assbread) & I love Art Trades. I love the idea of a bunch of artists working together and sharing their work.Art Trades give you an opportunity to make friends with someone new, even make better connections with existing friends! A chance to admire other artists work and designs. You can learn a lot from other people's art and they you. As well, as providing fun & interesting challenges!In truth, I actually came up with this idea of "Jack of Art Trades" to be a BIG collaborative event between all types of artists: artists, writers, musicians, sculptors, sewists, etc! Jack of ALL trades. That didn't really take off. Realistically, it's hard to manage so many different skills & crafts. What's fair? Is a month really doable for so many of these different mediums? I would love to be able to trade & collaborate with other kinds of artists in the future.For now I would just really like to be able to provide a community for Artists. Thank you for joining our community & participating in events! I hope this group provides new ideas, new friends, or at the very least, new experiences!

How to Join
At the start of every month, a sign-up post will go up. You can join by replying to that post! You are encouraged to introduce yourself or share your art, but it is optional.

Pairings
After sign-ups close, you will be paired with a random artist. Pairings will be public for transparency. You are free to continue communication using the thread, or move to DMs.
(All pairs are random, but you can find more information on our guidelines for which users are entered into each monthly pool below:)
Art Trades
Once you've been paired with your partner, it's time to get to work!
Let your partner know what you want.
Do your best to fulfill your half of the trade!
Be sure to keep in touch with your partner. Nothing's scarier than not knowing what's going on.
Do not combine your trade with any other obligations. (e.g. Two trades in the same piece)
If your partner is working traditionally, do not request it be sent to you physically. (They can do so, if they wish, but it is not expected.)
Final Week Check-Ins
We understand that time can escape us or that life can get in the way. We will check in with participants at the beginning of the final week as a simple reminder. We will do a second check-in if necessary later in that same week. Be sure to communicate!
Completed Trades
When you finish your trade, post it and @Your Partner.
Leave a link back to the post where you and your partner were initially paired up.

Guidelines
For full transparency, here is a guideline of how users are entered into each monthly pool on our end.
The following are not allowed:
AI "Art"
NFT (Non-Fungible Token)
NSFW/R-18 (This includes: Sex, Gore, & general NSFW things)
The lengths of our moderation for Jack of Art Trades is as follows:
Adult Content is disabled
Nudity does not automatically equal NSFW
Images NSFW, Stolen, or AI are hidden
Only users shown are entered into each monthly pool. Moderation is not perfect, but there is only so much we can do.
Match Making
Requests for specific users are not accepted. The event is done with the purpose of randomly pairing users.We will try our best not to pair you with the same user for at least 3 turns, for unique pairings and experiences.
(This may not always be doable depending on participation that month.)

Ranks are for reassurance. This lets others know that you are someone who can be trusted.
🚩 To remove your flag & participate in future trades, we ask that you complete your previous trade.
Users will NOT be penalized if their partner does not finish.
No rank? That's okay, all you have to do is complete one (1) trade to earn a spade (♠️) ! We all have to start somewhere.
(While we are still looking into what to do about those who fail to complete a trade, behavior akin to ghosting will be blacklisted from participating in future events.)

What is an Art Trade?
An Art Trade is an exchange between artists. Both artists agree on what they would like drawn. One artist draws for the other & vice versa.
What happens if I missed this event?
No worries, our events are open for sign up at the start of each month!
How do I join?
At the start of the month, signs-up will be posted. Keep an eye out!

Can I request a partner?
Unfortunately, you cannot make requests for who you will be paired up with. Jack of Art Trade is an event where you will be randomly paired with another fellow trader. The point of Jack of Art Trades is to get outside of your comfort zone, meet new people, try new things.(We do however, understand that some users do not pair well together. If you have prior history with another trader outside of JoAT & would like to not be paired with them in the future, you can make a request in our feedback box.)

My partner didn't finish their piece & ghosted me!
This may happen & we're so sorry if it does. Rest assured, on the final week, we will be trying our best to check in on users.If we're unable to reach a user after the month is up, they will be added to the list of 'traitors' & unable to participate in any future events.
What are those symbols after a persons name?
Those are your ranks! They're used to confirm trades completed, so you can feel at ease knowing that your partner is trustworthy.

What happens if there is an odd amount of people?
I join every event on my main account! I love trades. If there's an odd number, I will happily sit out and vibrate in my seat waiting for the next event.
